NOS stands for "New Old Stock," meaning clothes that were made some time ago, but were never worn and remain in a relatively brand new (if slightly musty) condition. So it goes with these Gung Ho trousers, a Stan Ray sub-brand that has been discontinued.

What Gung Ho calls the "Safari Trouser," we would classify as a BDU pant. BDU or Battle Dress Uniform, was the de facto cargo pant worn by the US Army in the 1980s, with its roots firmly planted in the M-65 trouser worn in the Vietnam War. As attitudes have shifted about wearing larger pants, so too have our feelings about wearing cargo pants. With six total pockets, including the bellows pockets on the legs and an adjustable drawstring hem, and waist adjusters; this is a highly adaptable and handy pant.

Cut from a 100% cotton twill that's slightly heavier than the usual ripstop you see in these reproduction military cargos, it's still light enough to wear when it warms up, but thick enough to still have a satisfying break in!

*These are true New Old Stock and may have slight fabric irregularity from sitting in the warehouse for 20-odd years. Allow time to air out or give a quick wash to get that "vintage" smell out. But this is real garment history! Enjoy and take note!*
