How to care for wovens
Washing and maintaining woven shirts and flannels will depend on the woven fabric, so always refer to the care label. However, most woven shirts will be easy to launder by simply washing on a gentle machine cycle and hang drying.
And linen garments should be machine or hand washed in cool water, using a non-biological detergent or natural soap solution. If you’re machine washing, make sure the drum isn’t too crammed so that the linen garment doesn’t get too creased. To dry, lay the damp garment flat on a cooling rail, or hang. Do not tumble dry. If in doubt, refer to the care label.
It is best to avoid ironing linen as heat can damage the fibers. However, if you find yourself with some creasing that won’t drop out with wear, iron your linen garment with a good quality steam iron on a medium heat, using a thin towel or cloth between the iron and the garment. Alternatively, take the garment to a dry cleaner who will be able to steam it.
